The consequences aren't there as much for the kids as they are for the adults. Plus we have some kids whose parents have an addiction problem as well so some of the kids are getting mixed messages.

Adolescents are hard; it takes long term engagement and support. We just try to build a support system, or maybe just plant a seed. At the time they may not believe or understand what we are telling them but later it can click. Some end up back here, sure, but some don't.

When they are using their social skills aren't developing. So they may be physically maturing but not maturing socially and emotionally maturing.
